About HARCAN
The Horse Archery Society of Canada is an organization that provides insurance to its members. We support horse archery as a sport in Canada and want to spread knowledge about this sport so that people can improve their skills, find community, and enjoy doing something interesting with their horse.

We have groups of people that organize themselves into clubs to make entry into the sport more achievable and social. Each club has their own rules, coaches, and practice times, but all follow HARCAN guidelines.

What is Mounted Archery?
Mounted archery is a historical technique of hunting and warfare. The rider controls the horse with seat, legs, and voice while shooting arrows with a bow. Now it has gained popularity as a sport. The most popular set up involves a 2m wide by 90m long track that the horse follows while the archer shoots at a variety of targets. Instinctual archery is important to achieve the accuracy and speed required to complete the patterns.
